Health Grants total $200,000: RPCN

The Rochester Primary Care Network and MVP Health Care announced 14 Community Health Initiative Fund Grants totaling $200K for health improvement efforts. 13 grants were awarded, one of which is the RCAN/ ALA in NY, Rochester office. Our grant with this program ($20,000) will be to support the implementation of ALA''s Open Airways for Schools, Asthma 101 for staff, and other Asthma Friendly Schools Initiative efforts in the Rochester City School District and other schools within Monroe County, identified as in-need. We are excited to continue to grow our educational efforts with schools through this opportunity. The project will run from May 2010- April 2011. Thank you to RPCN and MVP for supporting our mission!

“I have noticed a big difference in the time we have been involved with Mary Beth (RCAN Care Coordinator). RCAN has really been a godsend for us because the support, #1, for me, being a parent of a child with asthma, I really need that support system. It is hard when you feel like you are all alone out there, trying to figure out all the answers. I was always wondering why we cannot we get my daughter’s asthma under control.  RCAN made a world of difference for her and our family life.”
