How “WE” Help the Community

  • Support special projects for asthma “systems change” to improve the care of children and adults with asthma. We do this using the Improvement Process and by applying the Chronic Care Model in real time.
  • Sponsor educational programs for children and families (example: The Open Airways for Schools Program, and The Asthma Friendly Schools Initiative Program)
  • Serve as a resource for information and educational materials
  • Support special projects for asthma research, data collection and case management.
  • Conduct professional education opportunities for schools and health care providers.

My asthma gets much worse during the winter when cold weather is a big deal. So, RCAN taught me to put a scarf over my mouth when it''s cold- that way it doesn''t hurt my lungs to breath outside during the winter. I feel much better now.
