Coalition Membership

Membership is free and open to all individuals and any public or private sector organizations that demonstrate a willingness to work together to reduce the burden of asthma in our community.  Members are asked to promote the RCAN mission and goals in their sphere of influence, help identify additional stakeholders to be recruited as members and work toward the long-term sustainability of the coalition.

How “WE” Help the Community

    • Support special projects for asthma “systems change” to improve the care of children and adults with asthma. We do this using the Improvement Process and by applying the Chronic Care Model in real time.
    • Sponsor educational programs for children and families (example: The Open Airways for Schools Program, and The Asthma Friendly Schools Initiative Program)
    • Serve as a resource for information and educational materials
    • Support special projects for asthma research, data collection and case management.
Conduct professional education opportunities for schools and health care providers.

“I really always liked to run, more than anything.  My asthma used to affect me when I ran.  I always hoped I could get better and now I am.  RCAN helped. I am not around my triggers as much.  I am on the lowest amount of medications I ever had.   I received a metal for 2nd place in running track last year.  I am going to try again this year, to take the gold instead…I’d say second place is pretty good for now.”
